The Punisher is not a hero or an anti-hero. He kills people he thinks are bad. There is a word for that: villain. The fact that he kills bad people and that we follow him as a protagonist and he has a code, makes him more sympathetic, but never forget he is not a good person. He is like Michael Corleone in The Godfather; a protagonist, not a hero.
