Documentgate

Well, blogging has hit the big time and boy is the media pissed. The more the media pushes stories that don't hold up to even cursory analysis, the more I wonder which, if any stories are true? I now treat any media story as biased and lazy. they have lost all credibility to me. I get most of my news from blogs, or original sources. I try to read from a variety of sources, who all have their biases on their sleeves, right where I can see them, and their blind spots.

Donald Sensing writes on problems with the documents (and corrects his previous comment about there not being an Air Force Manual 35-13)

Belmont Club talks about Dan Rather trying escape the Kill Zone.

The Washington Times reports that the signatures don't match on the memos allegedly written by Lt Col Jerry B. Killian.

The Dallas Morning News reports that the man named in the memo who was putting pressure on Killian to cover for President Bush had left the TANG the previous year.

Ben Barnes daughter claims this is all political. Barnes had previously claimed to have not helped President Bush get into the TANG. Barnes is also the 3rd highest donot to the Kerrey campaign.

The Shape of Days describes what the IBM Selectric Composer could actually do. Additionaly, the $4000 typesetter would have cost $17,900 in 1972 dollars.

Yourish comments on who is qualified to comment on typography and typesetting issues.
