Today USA Today/Gallup announced poll results on evolution. The "highlights":
- "Evolution, that is, the idea that human beings developed over millions of years from less advanced forms of life" is probably or definitely false: 44%
- "Creationism, that is, the idea that God created human beings pretty much in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years" is probably or definitely true: 66%
- 15% said that they would be more likely to vote for a candidate that did not believe in evolution.
I don't think there is any contradiction between believing that a Creator created ~14 billion years ago and that evolution exists.
What is more likely: that God would create a world and universe that looked old, but was only a few thousand years old, OR, that the universe is billions of years old? Also, if the universe was created already in progress, why not last week, or 10 seconds ago?
