What not to name your blog

Advice on what to name your blog.

Whether you plan to write about food, your miserable day job, or a viable exit strategy for Iraq, the answer is always a negation: It's more a matter of what not to name your blog. When CNN calls to ask for your expert opinion on farm subsidies, do you really want to be known as the Intrepid Ploughman?

A semi random sampling of blogs I go to:

• The Boston Diaries - Nothing to do with Boston at all
• The Corsair Journal - Nickname based
• Instapundit - Suits it because it is all short, instant, responses to the news
• Althouse - Last name based

And mine.

• spin the cat - Based on my cat, who likes to be spun, so inside joke. I can live with that.

The name is important. It says who this is. I am spin the cat. Hear me meow.
