Choices

It is really easy to make software that is full of complicated settings that no one will understand or use. I have been guilty of this in the past, where because a decision wasn't made, we added an option to allow either choice. Plus, new features are always being pushed into applications; otherwise, why else would someone upgrade?
Most software lacks the discipline to present the tightly controlled user experience of the In-N-Out menu. Instead, we befuddle users with the software equivalent of a fourteen-course restaurant menu. Software developers lapse into complexity by default, because it's the path of least resistance.
