The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen Black Dossier

Thanks to Kurt who loaned me this.

A gazetteer of the League's world(s) with a framing story. I liked most of it, but could only read the first page of the Kerouac pastiche.

I especially liked the Jeeves and Wooster Lovecraft story.

The alternate history is nice, shoehorning nearly all of fiction, from Beowulf to Mayberry, Lilliput to Gotham City. I like stuff like that. I'm looking forward to more stories set there.

An invaluable aid to reading this (to get the references and allusions) is Jess Nevin's annotations. [Link] Panel by panel, reference by reference, he gets it all.
