In Mexico, teaching jobs are hereditary and the teachers want to keep it that way. [Link]
For years, Mexican teachers have bought and sold their jobs — $6,000 is the top rate — or handed them down to their children. Now “tens of thousands of teachers are blocking highways and seizing government buildings across Mexico to protest a federal education reform,” reports the Houston Chronicle.
