Some people are going wacky

There are some calling for a national holiday for Obama. [Link]
The link to the Topeka-Capital Journal (cjonline.com) story, which appeared in several blogs, pulled up a blank page, but you can try it here. If you go to the main page of cjonline.com, you can look in the comments on the right sidebar and link to the story from there.

Here’s the gist of the story:

“Yes We Can” rallies have a goal to secure a national holiday for Obama. Planning sessions will be held every Tuesday morning and Tuesday evening at a downtown McDonal’s restaurant in Topeka.
Luckily, it is still just a small group, tilting at windmills. [Link]

Some conservative bloggers, like Ed Morrissey here are in full-throated outrage over a snippet of a story that some folks in Topeka are lobbying in having Nov. 4 declared a national holiday in honor of Barack Obama's historic election.

Calm down, folks. The ringleader of this quixotic crusade is Sonny Scroggins, a prolific activist who has marched in opposition to U.S. investments in Sudan, spoken out against gansta rap, and, recently, led a two-man rally for the right of Topeka School District employees to wear political T-shirts to work.

He may be worthy of a holiday (I doubt it), but there is generally a requirement to be deceased before we name a national holiday after you. Let's not tempt fate.
