Be on a 64 bit OS and drag a shortcut from IE to your desktop, www.google.com.
Close the browser, then double click on the new shortcut.
Check Help –> About and it should be:
Edit the shortcut to be about:blank.

check Help –> About again and you get this:
It’s now running the 64 bit version of IE. You might notice this if you try to use ANY plugins as they almost all do not work in the 64 version.
One of my coworkers spent a few hours trying to figure out why our web site kept asking him to install Silverlight.
He had made a shortcut to about:blank so he could bypass out intranet home page that is forced into being our browser homepage.
