Hubble Successor

From Engadget.

A model of the James Webb Space Telescope has been unveiled at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.

It's mission:
  • Search for the first galaxies or luminous objects formed after the Big Bang
  • Determine how galaxies evolved from their formation until now
  • Observe the formation of stars from the first stages to the formation of planetary systems
  • Measure the physical and chemical properties of planetary systems and investigate the potential for life in those systems
It will have three times the resolution of Hubble. It may also be able to see Jupiter sized planets. To see earth size planets will require the Terrestrial Planet Finder. there will be no servicing trips as it will be a million miles from earth. Hopefully, no focusing issues will surface.
